Back in July, I was a little disappointed that I got rained out of climbing a mountain rather charmingly named The Tooth. The Tooth is an extraordinarily popular climb during the summer, since it’s a good beginner multi-pitch route close to Seattle. It is a lot less popular in December. It’s also a little more exciting in December! Well, I am pretty excited, anyway.

A lot of my climbing experience this year, especially when I was in my climbing class, involved getting up before dawn to trudge up some snow. This was the first time Eric and I had done such a climb together, so I was uncharacteristically excited when the alarm went off at 5 AM. Leaving Seattle under a total lunar eclipse was also a pretty nice touch.
I hate climbing in clunky mountaineering boots rather than sleek, sticky rock shoes.
Oh, and it was cold and the view was terrible.

But it was a great day! And then the next day, Eric taught me to ski for the first time and I fell down hard and ended up with a black eye and we were still having so much fun.

I might be okay with winter this year.
